Despite temperatures hovering below freezing outside, the competition heated up inside Keating Sports Center on March 12 for the semifinal and final games of Illinois Tech Recreation Sports and Fitness’s Cricket League. Restarted four years ago along with the IIT Cricket Club by Rishi Shukla (CS 4th Year) and Rishi Shah (ARCH 4th Year), the Cricket League provides Illinois Tech students from around the world with the opportunity to gather and compete in a sport many grew up playing. “The first ball I remember picking up was a cricket ball,” Shukla says. “[Cricket] has been with us since we grew up. People in the U.S. maybe have a basketball [hoop] in their backyards. We all had this bat and ball.”
